Sprinkler Repairs, Installs, and Maintenance in Salt Lake City, UT

  • Salt Lake City soils are typical of the Wasatch Front: clay-heavy, low in organic matter, compacted, and naturally alkaline (around pH 7.5–8.0). These soils hold water but drain slowly, which can lead to pooling and runoff if irrigation is applied too quickly. Many older yards also contain fill material with silt or fine gravel from ancient lakebeds, but clay still dominates. Lawns benefit from regular aeration and compost top-dressing, while planting beds should be amended with organic matter to improve drainage and nutrient availability. Iron deficiency is common due to high pH.

  • We are licensed with Utah's Division of Professional Licensing (DOPL) to perform landscape irrigation services in Salt Lake City. We are also fully insured in case anything ever goes wrong.

  • We guarantee arrival within 48 hours (during business days) or you get $25 off the cost of your visit. During the hot summer months, Utah's cool-season grass gets hit hard by the heat. We understand that when the sprinklers break or when now plants are put into your landscape, you need service as soon as possible. That's why we have a large staff, 24/7 call answering, and this guarantee. Don't let your grass die - give us a call today.

Don't wait days for someone to show up: we have an online estimate calculator and we also offer online video call and phone estimates for new system installations on properties listed on Google Maps. For sprinkler repairs, just give us a call or go to our pricing page for clearly outlined prices for every type of sprinkler repair.

  • When you sign up for a Storm Shield plan to professionally maintain your system, we warranty every component for 5 years. Most companies have warranties that expire after a few months, if they have them at all! We use only the highest quality parts installed by highly trained, background-checked crews, so you are in good hands.

  • Your safety and peace of mind is important to us. We don't hire anyone who doesn't pass a background check and drug test. Beyond that, we train our staff specifically on providing top-tier service, and we take complaints very seriously. Austin came to fix a broken valve. He diagnosed the problem quickly and fixed it quickly. Most of all, he was great to work with. Highly recommended.

Debra A.

Spencer was quick at fixing the leaks in the valve box. We appreciate his quick response.

Joe H.

Austin was great. He was knowledgeable and solved a very difficult set of problems quickly and at a fair price. In fact, one solution was to dig up an old box and replace all of the old valves which would’ve cost quite a bit. When he came out to do it, however, he offered to try to repair the offending...

Ben from storm sprinklers was amazing. He fixed my problem within minutes and fixed a leak with my valve. I would highly recommend him and storm sprinklers to address my sprinkler issues or repairs. Thank you guys again!

City Information

What Homeowners Need to Know About Irrigation Systems in Salt Lake City

  • Salt Lake City provides culinary (drinking) water only through SLC Public Utilities. There is no city-run secondary irrigation system. Some neighborhoods receive untreated irrigation water from canal companies (such as Weber Basin or local canal districts), but those are billed separately and not through the city. Culinary water rates are tiered by usage and season. For a typical residential ¾″ meter, monthly charges are roughly $40–50 for basic use (6–8 CCF, where 1 CCF ≈ 748 gallons), with higher summer rates for heavy irrigation. Commercial and multifamily customers are billed per CCF at similar seasonal tiered rates.

  • Where canal irrigation is available, water typically runs from spring through early October, with many canal systems shutting off around October 1. Where only culinary water is used, irrigation generally follows climate limits. Average freeze dates in Salt Lake City are around April 13 (last spring freeze) and October 31 (first fall freeze). Outdoor watering usually begins in mid-April and ends by late October, depending on weather. Sprinkler systems should be winterized before hard freezes.

  • Salt Lake City does not enforce a permanent odd/even or day-of-week watering schedule. Under normal conditions, watering is allowed any day. During declared drought stages (e.g., Stage 2), the city asks residents and businesses to limit lawn irrigation to no more than two days per week; this is mandatory for city facilities and institutions, but voluntary for homeowners. The city strongly encourages off-peak watering. Public landscapes are typically watered between 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. to reduce evaporation, and residents are encouraged to follow similar early-morning or evening schedules.

  • Salt Lake City does not issue its own irrigation rebate checks. Instead, residents and businesses use statewide programs such as Utah Water Savers / Slow the Flow, which provide incentives for turf replacement, smart irrigation controllers, drip irrigation, and other water-efficient upgrades. The city supplements these with local conservation programs, such as selling low-water grass seed through the Turf Trade program and offering rain barrels for purchase.

  • Salt Lake City requires approved, testable backflow prevention devices on any irrigation system connected to the culinary water supply. Most irrigation systems require a reduced-pressure-zone (RPZ) assembly or equivalent, which must be tested annually by a certified tester. Cross-connection control is strictly enforced to protect drinking water. For new development or major expansions (generally commercial or large projects), the city requires a landscape and irrigation plan prepared by a Utah-licensed landscape architect or WaterSense-certified professional. Typical single-family homes and minor repairs usually do not require stamped irrigation plans.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Usually we can make it to your property within 1-3 business days. For more urgent sprinkler repair requests, we offer emergency repairs at a small fee. At peak periods during the season, such as April, July, and October, wait times may be longer. However, we do our best to fulfill the promise of our slogan: lightning-fast with a sunny smile! This requires a balance between having enough staff to reach you as quickly as possible, but maintaining the high standards of our team.

  • Most new sprinkler installations cost between $5,000-$10,000. The average cost of a sprinkler repair project is around $400-$500, but depends entirely on the scope of what you want to do. Some jobs are as low as $100 and some are up to $2,000+. If you want detailed pricing information and an instant estimate, visit our pricing page!

  • We offer easy financing options when projects are over $1,000. With 0% interest options, adding a new system or reworking your existing system has never been easier and more affordable.

  • We don't charge diagnostic fees, but we often charge service/trip fees for repairs, ranging from $0-100 depending on location and seasonal demand. This allows us to control our schedule so that we can keep spots available for local homeowners and families who truly want or need our services. It also allows us to pay technicians fairly and continue to serve you even if all you need is a sprinkler head repair or a sprinkler controller reprogramming. This way, we have no hidden fees or sunk cost gotcha's-- just honest, clear pricing that works for everyone.

  • The best time to turn on your sprinklers is usually between April 15 - May 15, once there is no more risk of freezing temperatures. The best time to turn them off is between September 15 - October 15, before freezing temperatures return. Many homeowners make the mistake of turning sprinklers on too early and running them too late, thinking this is necessary to keep their grass alive. Utah's cold-season grass is more resilient than most people think, so be cautious when choosing to run your sprinklers.
